Swadden & Company is a downtown Vancouver law firm of 20 lawyers. Our firm’s main area of practice is personal injury defence work, and our main client is the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. All of our lawyers and paralegals carry on a substantial insurance defence practice. We are currently seeking to fill a full-time paralegal position. This paralegal will work with two of our lawyers on ICBC defence files.
Our firm is forward-thinking, technologically advanced, and maintains a relaxed work environment. We have been paperless since 2009, and all of our lawyers and paralegals have the ability to work from home. We work in teams consisting of two lawyers, one paralegal, and one LAA. Our salary range for paralegals is between $74,000 and $86,000 per annum, depending on experience, and there is an opportunity to earn a bonus quarterly. We pay for parking or transit costs and provide group benefits.
Reviewing initial file material
Preparing pleadings, Lists of Documents, and applications
Summarizing clinical and other records
Dealing with incoming correspondence and monitoring BFs relating to key calendar events
Supervising an LAA in the performance of non-billable tasks
Assisting lawyers generally in developing and implementing defence plans.
Paralegal certificate or diploma from an accredited program
A minimum 2 years’ paralegal experience in civil litigation
Excellent computer skills
An ability to work independently
An attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
