Olthuis van Ert is a barristers’ practice specializing in commercial litigation and public law. With offices in Vancouver and Ottawa, our team of counsel includes former judicial clerks to the Supreme Court of Canada, and members of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute. We represent a diverse clientele of individuals, corporations, professional regulators, Indigenous groups, and government bodies.
Our Vancouver office is in search of a talented and technology-savvy intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to join our busy and growing team. Responsibilities
- Document production: preparing, formatting, editing, and proof-reading internal firm documents (correspondence, forms, memos, etc.) and court documents (pleadings, notices of application, factums, trial binders, books of authority, etc.)
- File management: conducting conflict checks, opening, closing, and organizing files
- Communications with registries: booking trial dates and hearings
- Filing and serving of court documents
- Maintenance of BF systems and lawyers' calendars
- Other tasks as required
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited LAA program
- 3-5 years of experience as a litigation LAA
- Advanced technical skills including full suite of MS 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, NetDocuments (or equivalent), Automated Civil Litigation
- Experience with e-discovery software, preferably Everlaw
- Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy rate
- Strong interpersonal skills and team player
- Flexible, organized, and self-motivated
