Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to work in our Vancouver Office. This position will appeal to candidates who enjoy a busy and challenging position in an office with a great culture. The primary responsibilities of the position are outlined below.

The Role:

The role of the Accounts Payable Clerk is to enter and pay supplier invoices and expense reports and to provide customer service to internal and external clients. By handling a large volume, the candidate will have to be able to manage several simultaneous requests and deadlines.

Supplier invoices

  • Receiving documents/validating authorizations and codes;
  • Entering invoices in the accounting system (SAP, Chrome River);
  • Issuing, matching and signing cheques;
  • Validating and verifying account statements;
  • Audit and approve Visa account Corporate Credit card charges for local office through Scotia Suite;
  • Tax requirements knowledge sharing to the business (LA's and Lawyers);
  • Overseeing the proper tax handling (ITC);
  • Validating the nature of expenses against firm policies;
  • Providing assistants with training and support;
  • Contact external clients (suppliers , government entities for filing etc.) in order to ensure our billing guidelines are respected;
  • Coordinate the annual renewals for miscellaneous and law society memberships;
  • Registration and searches (weekly and daily transactions);
  • Responsibility for the full cycle of electronic payments;
  • Handling request for office;
  • Local contact for our GSC team.

Expense reports

  • Validating the nature of expenses against firm policies;
  • Providing training and support to assistants and lawyers;
  • Troubleshooting any issues related to the creation and submission of the expense report;
  • Overseeing the proper tax handling (ITC).

Skills and Abilities

  • College diploma in accounting or university studies in a similar field;
  • Five (5) years of experience in a similar position;
  • Practical accounting and sales tax knowledge;
  • Basic computer knowledge (SAP, Excel, Chrome River);
  • Organizational skills and sense of accountability.
