Position Summary
We are seeking a bookkeeper for a minimum of 3 days per week, with the possibility of full-time. The bookkeeper role provides support to all the claim teams and firm processes to accomplish the goal of providing the best possible legal services to our clients. Within our collaborative model, the bookkeeper works with the accountant to effectively carry out the accounting needs of the firm.
Position: Full-time or Part-time
Hours: 8:30 – 5:00, Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Compensation: $53,000 - $57,000/year (pro-rated if not FT)
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining the general ledger, AP and AR of Spraggs Law related entities
- Billing/invoicing, tracking and reconciling client accounts
- Assisting with processing client payments, bank deposits/transactions, assisting with AR retrieval
- Reporting and processing AP reports and cheque runs as required
- Preparing and maintaining journal entries as required
- Assisting with year-end and audit review documentation
- Other accounting tasks/reports as assigned
- Provide backup assistance to the Spraggs Law Accountant on Non-Contingency billings as this department grows

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Accounting or related field
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Minimum 1-3-years performing AP/AR, general ledger, among other accounting tasks
- Aptitude for using various software packages (ie: MS Excel, Word, Outlook among others)
- Knowledge in Quickbooks Pro Desktop and Wave an asset
