What you can expect:

We currently have an opening for an HR Generalist to cover a 15-month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will be responsible for accurately processing semi-monthly payroll, benefits administration and assisting with various HR related tasks. The successful hire will ensure that payroll policies and procedures are followed. This position will be located in Vancouver, BC with a potential hybrid remote working arrangement. Applicants must exhibit integrity, strong ethics, professionalism, and a positive attitude. This role requires an individual who is organized, effective at multi-tasking and detail oriented, with strong communication and people skills. Depending on experience and knowledge, the core responsibilities of the role will be, but not limited to:

Payroll

  • Process semi-monthly payroll
  • Maintain vacation and personal day records and reconcile with attendance reports
  • Remit EHT and WCB payments and enter journal entries
  • Process employment changes such as salary, leaves and terminations
  • Prepare and process ROE and T4s
  • Prepare and process ad-hoc payments (final pay, severance), bonus, garnishment, and retro pay
  • Review and process taxable allowances
  • Update position analysis spreadsheet
  • Manage electronic employee files and payroll records, as well as update HRIS system

Benefits

  • GroupSource and RBC benefits administration; enrolments, changes and terminations
  • Issue payments to GroupSource and RBC
  • RRSP and TFSA administration – enrolments, changes and terminations
  • Ensure staff receive benefits and RRSP group plan information and updates
  • Prepare remittances to iA
  • Update and reconcile employee benefit premiums
  • Assist employee with LTD applications
  • Respond to staff inquiries related to payroll and benefits in a timely and accurate manner

HR

  • Draft employment contracts and employment letters
  • Perform background checks
  • Manage on-boarding set up and off-boarding checklist with third-party IT provider and other administrative departments
  • Assist with recruitment – job postings, phone screens and reference checks
  • Organize/assist with firm events
  • Update intranet
  • Other administrative tasks as required

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum of 3 years of HR experience
  • Significant experience with semi-monthly payroll
  • PCP designation an asset
  • Solid knowledge of Federal and Provincial Payroll & Employment legislations
  • Strong knowledge of Benefits administration/reconciliations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain absolute confidentiality
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in independently and in a team environment
  • Positive attitude and a genuine passion for HR
  • Experience working with Rise Payroll and HRIS an asset
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook and is comfortable with learning other software used by the Firm (Worldox, Rise, Acumin, Asana, iSpring training)

Compensation

The typical salary range for this position is $73,000 - $78,000. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related skills/knowledge, experience, and internal and market equity.
