Building Your Inner Resilience

Presented by Tasleem Jessani
on Wednesday July 14th, 2021 at 12:00-12:45 p.m.

According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, “The pandemic is taking an emotional toll on people in Canada, as 77% of adults report feeling so-called negative emotions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The five most common responses across Canada were ‘worried or anxious,’ ‘bored,’ ‘stressed,’ ‘lonely or isolated’ and ‘sad’.”

All emotions and feelings have a purpose, and stress is one of them. When we look at the magnitude of change the entire world has experienced over the past year, it makes sense that most people are feeling a heightened level of stress. What’s more, is that in order to adjust to a new way of working and living, there has been a significant increase in screen time (hello zoom fatigue), increased consumption of food, and engaging in habits such as online shopping, as well as alcohol and substance abuse to cope with the discomfort. With workplaces anticipating returning to the office in the coming months, we can expect stress levels to continue rising as we, yet again, adjust to a new normal.

This workshop will open your eyes to a whole new way of looking at emotions and stress. With the tools and discussion, you will walk away feeling empowered to work with your stress and emotions, and understand how to transform them. You will walk away with tools to use in your everyday life, including breathing practices, how to become aware of your emotions, and how to work with them in a healthy way to build your inner resilience. These 45 minutes are guaranteed to be a game-changer for you, so don’t miss it!
