Jenkins Marzban Logan is one of British Columbia’s leading boutique law firms in the areas of construction, commercial and matrimonial dispute resolution and we are looking for a full-time (or part-time) accounting supervisor to join our team starting in April, 2019.

Responsibilities include all accounting functions, systems and record keeping including but not limited to:

  • developing and maintaining monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports
  • ensuring efficient and timely processing of monthly accounts
  • processing all payroll functions using Ceridian, including yearend T4s
  • reconciliation and tax remittance
  • processing all partner payments
  • monitoring and/or overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • reconciling or supervising reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • managing two accounting staff, including recruiting and training, performance and compensation reviews, etc.
  • ensuring compliance with:
    • Law Society regulations
    • CRA regulations including preparation of all remittances and all other government
      regulated requirements
  • processing monthly GST, PST and TAF remittances
  • supervising all month end and year end procedures and working with KPMG to complete yearend
  • recommending and implementing improvements for all finance based functions
  • participating in strategic planning processes with respect to finance
  • working alongside COO to develop and maintain budgets and fiscal control as required


Qualifications and skills required:

  • Completion of a college or university diploma or degree in a related field is desired or relevant on-the-job experience will be considered (can be working toward an accounting designation)
  • 5-7+ years accounting experience in a law firm setting
  • strong technical skills including Microsoft Excel and PCLaw (exposure to or experience with other law firm accounting software an asset)
  • strategic thinker with high level of numeric reasoning
  • excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • strong multi-tasking and attention to detail skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong leadership skills with ability to manage staff
  • work well in team environment as well as independently
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
