Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a full-time 15-month contract from June 2024 – September 2025. This position will be reporting to the Controller. The successful candidate must possess strong, full-cycle accounting skills as they will be involved in all aspects of the departmental operations. In addition, the Senior Accountant must have sound analytical and technical skills, as a significant component of the position will involve project management and data analysis. Support and coverage of all roles in the department is also expected.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Providing support to the Controller;
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements;
  • Preparing ad hoc reports and analyses, including cost and revenue analyses;
  • Assisting with all budget and forecasting requirements;
  • Researching and providing recommendations on accounting and compliance issues;
  • Providing cross-training and support for all accounting functions;
  • Assisting with the maintenance of accounting dashboards and internal report requirements;
  • Leveraging existing accounting software to enhance reporting metrics;
  • Completing ad hoc projects as requested by management; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • University undergraduate diploma or degree in a related field (business or accounting preferred);
  • Enrolled in the Chartered Professional Accounting program;
  • Intermediate level of progressive accounting experience;
  • Professional manner with capacity to maintain high level of confidentiality;
  • Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Experience with Elite 3E or similar ERP software and SQL;
  • Excellent communication skills and a focus on exceptional client service;
  • Experience in a professional services environment considered a strong asset.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks by deadline, work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
