General Accountability

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for deploying and maintaining core IT infrastructure services, business applications, network, security systems, telephony services, backup and data center environments.  Responsibilities also include collaborating with other members of the IT team in coordinating regular maintenance upgrades and participating in technology projects.  The Senior Systems Administrator is also responsible for monitoring the infrastructure services and should be security focused.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, install, and maintain IT infrastructure.
  • Resolve daily incidents and problems escalated by various teams, users, and system alerts.
  • Participate in day-to-day operations and maintenance of on-premises infrastructure.
  • Recommend process and technologies that will improve efficiency and effectiveness to the team.
  • Provide technical guidance in project management.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
  • Provide small scale training and presentation to users.
  • Automate IT processes; perform systems updates, reboots, and preventive-maintenance tasks.
  • Create new scripts required for deploying applications.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies that will reduce risk of data corruption, theft, or hacking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Minimum six years’ experience in production application support and incident response.
  • Minimum six years’ experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting web and SQL servers.
  • Highly proficient with routing, switching, firewall, complex wireless networks (layer 1, 2, 3 networking).
  • Strong understanding of Server and Storage (SAN, NAS) systems design, installation, and support.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft based networking including Active Directory deployments.
  • Advanced knowledge of database systems installation and support, network security design, maintenance, testing and reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Network firewalls, PowerShell, .Net, Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, and Visio.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, including public and private cloud, networking, virtualization, identity, security and storage.
  • Highly proficient with common database technologies (e.g. SQL/Database Server, Web app development, .Net development).
  • Strong understanding of access management, administration, and application support.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including performing backups, upgrading and patching, performance tuning, monitoring, alerting, deployments, and disaster recovery.
  • Analytical and process oriented.
  • Exceptional incident troubleshooting and root cause documentation skills.
  • Professional deportment and impeccable service orientation.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and excellent interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders including partners, lawyers, staff, and clients.
  • A team player who can work independently and take the initiative.
  • Ability to take ownership, collaborate and problem-solve.
  • Experience with Elite Enterprise and iManage / Desksite considered an asset.
  • Flexibility to work overtime.
