Session Overview:
In today’s fast-paced work environment, traditional learning methods are often insufficient to keep up with constant changes, especially in the legal environment, which I am sure we have all experiences as of late. This session will be led by Valerie Johnson, a change management expert. Valerie is a CCMP Certified Senior Strategic Change Management consultant with a MBA and consulting experience and knowledge from over thirty years of organization change management, leadership development, team effectiveness consulting and IT project work across multiple business sectors including mining, energy, utility, government, and higher education. Valerie’s key strength is building change leadership competency and working with leaders and teams to uncover what they need to drive their success and to help build plans to get there. She shares her experience and expertise through teaching change leaders and change practitioners and involvement on the ACMP Board.
Key Topics:
- What is Change Management? Learn the definition and objective of the practice of Organization Change Management.
- What are the processes of Change Management and where does Learning and Development fit in? Learn the structured process of Change Management and how to best leverage all change activities to achieve sustained adoption.
- How do we track readiness for change? Learn a common model for articulating the change journey and how we can use it to track readiness for adopting change.
- Accounting for Human Dynamics: The wildcard of successful change is dealing with humans. Learn the characteristics of human behaviour that we can account for in our change management plan to increase our success.
Focus on Learning & Development Challenges:
The change management concepts can be applied to our current challenges in L&D where rapid technological updates and shifting workflows make the traditional “one-time training” model insufficient. This session will provide the opportunity to re-frame how L&D professionals define their objectives, shifting from training employees on specific tasks to defining the objective of the new skills and capability in the context of a new business result and sustained adoption of new practices. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how accounting for human’s natural resistance to change and finite capacity for change can lead to more effective learning and development planning.
Who Should Attend:
This session is designed for Learning & Development professionals, team leaders, HR managers, and anyone involved in managing or supporting change within their organization.
