We have served the Tri-Cities area for over 45 years in the areas of litigation, wills & estates, business law, real estate and family law. We are currently looking for a litigation assistant to support our lawyers and paralegals in our personal injury and commercial litigation practice. Overtime, it is expected that the LAA would take on more responsibility and work more independently. There is lots of room to grow in your career. Initially, the assistant will support our MVA practice; as those files are resolved, the LAA will transition to supporting our growing commercial/civil litigation department.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents from dictation, handwritten and precedent documents
- Maintain bring forward or tracking system for limitation an follow-up dates
- Respond to client calls and general inquiries
- Speak with and correspond with the courts, opposing counsel and expert witnesses regarding scheduling of hearings, trials, examinations for discovery and other events involved in the litigation process
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail
- Review and file e-mail correspondence
- Time entry and bill preparation
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks, such as file maintenance and organization
- Open and close client files
Experience & Education:
- Graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant Program or has other relevant administrative assistant experience including no less than 2 years’ work experience in a litigation or related practice area;
- Solid understanding of legal procedures and documentation;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Attention to detail is essential;
- Experience working with Court Services Online;
- Prior knowledge of Amicus Attorney, PCLaw and Primafact would be an asset.
