Position:
Waterstone Law Group LLP is currently seeking an experienced litigation legal assistant/paralegal to join the team in our Chilliwack office.
This is a full-time position, working in-office alongside a litigator in the areas of family and civil litigation.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for all aspects of managing a litigation practice, including but not limited to:
- preparing and maintaining BF system for all file related matters
- Scheduling client meetings
- Scheduling court dates such as JCCs, Chambers Hearings, Trials, as well as Examinations for Discovery, Settlement meetings and mediations
- Regularly interacting with clients and opposing counsel
- Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Drafting of correspondence
- Preparing and filing Court forms including pleadings, financial statements, lists of documents, notices and responses to applications and affidavits
- Preparing Chambers Records, Trial Records, and other binders for legal matters
- Posting file related disbursements
- Processing of regular client billing and associated transactions
Requirements:
We require a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of LLA/Paralegal experience in a British Columbia firm, ideally in the area of family law, who also possesses a LAA/Paralegal certificate or diploma from an accredited Canadian institution.
This position requires an individual with strong English verbal and written communications abilities. This person must be outgoing, punctual, professional and reliable; someone who thrives in a busy environment with a varied workday. They will need to be able to work well both independently and within a team environment, be organized and meticulously detail-oriented, and consistently demonstrate a strong work-ethic and professionalism.
