We are currently seeking a full-time Estate Litigation LAA to join our firm.
About the role:
• Preparing initial drafts of correspondence and pleadings
• Managing intake of documents and file-related materials and updating binders
• Maintaining the lawyer’s email daily, printing and saving correspondence
• Scheduling appointments, hearings, discovery, mediations, and trial dates
• Preparing legal documents, drafting Trial Briefs, Case Plan Proposals, Lists of Documents, Application Records, Petition Records, Orders and Trial Record
• Assembling Exhibits for Affidavits and Exhibit Binders for trial
• Maintaining a BF and limitation system
• Preparing accounts
• Frequent communication with opposing counsel and clients
• LTO (including document retrieval), CSO, corporate and assessment searches
• Other administrative tasks such as opening/organizing/closing files as needed
About you:
• A Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
• Minimum of 4 years of Litigation experience, direct Estate Litigation experience an asset
• Proficient with MS Word and Outlook
• Solid understanding of Supreme Court Rules
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to exercise good judgment, professionalism, and to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
