Location: Toronto, ON or Vancouver, BC

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Manager of Support Services to oversee our legal assistant team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective delivery of support for our lawyers and in building and overseeing professional development programs for the Legal Assistant team. Additionally, the Manager of Support Services will offer special support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), ensuring the careful delivery of firm-wide strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the legal assistant team, ensuring efficient and effective support for lawyers.
  • Develop and oversee professional development programs for the Legal Assistant team to enhance their skills and career growth.
  • Provide special support to the COO, assisting with the delivery of firm-wide strategic projects.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless integration of support services.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in legal support services.
  • Ensure proper training and professional development for the legal assistant team.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a legal support role, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in legal technology tools and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department.

Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Director of People and Culture and is a senior member of the support services team.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 per annum and comes with a competitive extended health benefit package and four weeks vacation. This role is hybrid with a minimum of three days in the office.
