RBS is looking for an experienced hybrid legal assistant/paralegal for our foreclosure/insolvency practice area.  There will also be some support in the estate administration and estate litigation area, for our Vancouver office.

Role

In this independent role, you are responsible for a variety of legal assistant/paralegal duties, in support of insolvency, estate litigation and estate administration files.

Skillset

1. Ability to use initiative, anticipate needs, prioritize multiple tasks, meet timelines and produce quality, accurate work, from the outset to settlement

2. Must possess excellent attention to detail; be highly communicative (written and verbal) and excel at client service

3. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy; independent judgement and critical thinking

4. Be organized and able to follow direction

5. Exercise confidentiality

6. Computer proficiency with Office 365. File Site/IManage DMS and Elite 3E accounting software are preferred; proprietary institutional software knowledge would be a bonus.

7. Intermediate to senior experience preferred

Responsibilities

1. Draft all pleadings, letters of demand, petitions, affidavits, notice of applications for conduct and approval of sale, in respect of foreclosure matters, as well as S.92 applications

2. Prepare Certificates of Pending Litigation for filing with the Land Titles Office and letters of release and attend to the filing of all court documents with Court Services Online and other online searches

3. Prepare correspondence and documents in support of estate litigation and administration applications and prepare any ancillary documents

4. Thorough familiarity with all aspects of foreclosure proceedings, some real estate, litigation and estate administration practice areas are required

5. Timekeeping

6. Address inquiries and correspondence

7. Trial prep, if necessary

8. Other duties as assigned

9. Police Information Check required
