The Role

Our downtown Vancouver office is looking to hire a Legal Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic, professional and friendly team. This opportunity will appeal to a junior or more experienced professional with a legal administration educational background who is looking to contribute their expertise in the commercial litigation area of law. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail oriented, collaborative and a self starter.

The ideal candidate will provide legal administrative assistance to two lawyers, one of whom is fully self-sufficient and requires only minimal clerical support. The position allows the successful candidate to take ownership of the role and grow with the practice by taking on increasing responsibilities including preparing legal correspondence, performing legal research and filing court documents while managing deadlines.

Education

  • Diploma or Certificate in Legal Administration Assistant or Paralegal preferred

Responsibilities

  • Draft legal documents and correspondence
  • Transcribe dictation using Dragon
  • Maintain, organize and update calendar system
  • Prepare and send emails and other correspondence
  • Organize operation of lawyer’s practice
  • Schedule Discoveries, Mediations, Trials, Case Plan Conferences, etc.
  • Interact and correspond directly with clients
  • Conduct searches via BC Online and Land Title registry
  • Billing and general administrative tasks

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a Legal Administrative Assistant in a law firm
  • Strong administrative, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong client service orientation
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing demands and schedules
  • Knowledge of PC Law is an asset
  • Knowledge of Dragon Transcription software an asset
