We are seeking  a full-time Legal Assistant, Intellectual Property  to join our Vancouver office! This is a hybrid role which will require in office work 4 days a week. 

This role assists the practice of Legal Professionals through the provision of secretarial, clerical and administrative support. Legal Assistant's work with team members to provide excellent client service to both internal and external parties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and preparing all necessary documentation for patent filings and applications in the U.S., Canada and International.
  • Drafting and preparing correspondence using Word and Excel templates. 
  • Editing, formatting, printing, and revising materials from dictations. 
  • Registration of reporting letters.
  • Enter and manage all PATTSY (IP Software) information for client files, pulling deadline reports, entering new applications and deadlines, etc.
  • Administrative duties such as: managing email/calendar accounts, processing/administering client accounts, electronic/hard copy filing and coordinating meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, etc.
  • Conducting Clarivate and CIPO searches and formatting results as requested. 
  • Managing all IP and client files, ensuring they are current with relevant documentation.
  • Filter incoming calls and follow up on various information requests pertaining to the department.
  • Other business related duties as assigned.

What you'll bring:

  • Certificate or Diploma from a Community College or equivalent.
  • At least 3+ years of experience as an Intellectual Property Legal Assistant.
  • Strong knowledge of the Trademark and Patent processes.
  • Superior writing skills necessary to draft and proofread documents and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication skills and team oriented approach.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and IP Software (an asset).
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to demonstrate independent judgment and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive total rewards package with the expected range of the annual salary to be between $60,000 to $75,000.

The final salary is influenced by the location of the incumbent and may fluctuate based on the qualifications, skills, and market considerations, ensuring alignment with internal and external pay equity standards.
