Victory Square Law Office LLP is one of Western Canada's leading union side labour law firms, providing advice and assistance to unions and workers. Victory Square Law Office LLP is currently looking for a full-time Intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, likes using technology and who would be enthusiastic about supporting a team of lawyers protecting the rights of unions and workers.

Typical LAA Duties & Responsibilities:
• Providing legal administrative assistance to three to four lawyers, depending on experience
• Providing all administrative support to lawyers including filing, opening & closing files, maintaining calendars and client lists, maintaining bring forward systems, reviewing and filing email correspondence using established firm standards and procedures, and time entry
• Assistance with initiating basic correspondence and legal documents using advanced formatting features, including proofreading and formatting
• Hearing, arbitration and litigation support, including organizing and assembling documents, books, binders and other materials
• Assisting other staff with work as time permits
• Other general administrative and legal support services as required or assigned

Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience as an Administrative Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant
• Diploma from an accredited college an asset
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to be adaptable and resourceful
• Ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, even when doing routine and/or repetitive tasks
• Litigation experience, including solid knowledge of all steps in the litigation process, thorough knowledge and understanding of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules, court practices and procedures and filing deadlines;
• Strong computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, BC Registries and Court Services, myLTSA and BC Online
• Ability to learn quickly
• Strong interpersonal skills with a self-starter attitude
• Ability to prioritize tasks assigned and, when necessary, switch between uncompleted tasks as priorities change
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple assignments and deadlines
• Ability to work with little direct supervision, and to obtain the assistance of others when the work loads, tasks assigned and priorities require it
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliability
• Availability to work full time
• Positive and willing attitude

The following would also be significant assets:
• Labour law experience
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Experience using PCLaw
• Knowledge of database structure and maintenance
• Experience with dictation transcription

Victory Square Law Office offers competitive compensation, a benefits package, and excellent working conditions in a friendly environment. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
