McQuarrie is a full-service, result-driven BC law firm, centrally located in the Greater Vancouver area and well situated to meet the needs of a diverse range of businesses, individuals, and institutional clients. At McQuarrie, we believe trust is the foundation of every good client relationship. We are conveniently located in the Central City Tower, accessible by sky train in downtown Surrey, one of the fastest-growing business communities. We value a firm culture that fosters collegiality and respect for everyone on the team while rewarding individual initiative, responsibility, and creativity.
We are currently seeking a full-time corporate commercial LAA or Paralegal with a minimum of 5 years of experience to support a busy solicitor’s practice.
If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and enjoy working collaboratively to get deals done, this could be the opportunity for you.
In this role, you’ll assist a corporate-commercial partner and associate with a wide range of business matters and transactions – including M&A, private, and commercial financing (for lenders and borrowers), contract drafting, and more. Some files are routine; others are unique.
You’ll be involved at every stage of a transaction, from the initial client meeting to post-closing wrap-up. This is a hands-on role within a close-knit team that values collaboration, efficiency, and results.
This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, thrives on variety, and enjoys seeing deals through from start to finish.
About the role
Duties include (but will not be limited to):
- Preparing legal documents and agreements, including contracts and closing materials
- Assembling commercial lending and financing packages
- Conducting due diligence and corporate searches
- Coordinating funding and handling related accounting matters
- Supporting all aspects of transactions – including the expected, and occasionally the unexpected
About you
- A Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience as an LAA
- Energized by deal work and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Adaptable and comfortable shifting priorities as transactions evolve
- Collaborative and committed – willing to stay late when needed to help close the deal
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to take ownership and contribute to the team’s success
- Experienced in conveyancing, commercial transactions, and lending (private and commercial) – an asset, but not required
What we offer and why it is great to work on our team:
While we generally work regular business hours, the nature of transactional work means there are times – especially around closings – when flexibility is important. We’re looking for someone willing to put in extra time when needed to support the team and keep deals on track.
We offer a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $80,000, based on experience, internal equity, and market considerations. Our team enjoys a comprehensive benefits package, flexible and individualized work arrangements, and eligibility to enroll in our pension plan after two years. We also provide a professional development allowance, generous vacation, paid sick and personal days, and exclusive retail discounts at Central City, conveniently located below our office.
