General Accountability

Reporting to the Director of Professional Development & Marketing, Associate Director of Professional Development & Marketing and the Manager, Marketing, the Assistant is responsible for providing support in the areas of marketing, the recruitment and staffing of students, and the professional development of lawyers and students. Coordinates various firm events and functions; and provides administrative and secretarial assistance to the Manager, Marketing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and executing marketing projects, and firm event management including student/lawyer/client seminars and presentations, and corporate functions.
  • Update marketing collateral (i.e. advertisements, invitations, presentations, brochures, announcements, lawyer profiles etc.).
  • Help coordinate all facets of internal and external professional development programs and provide reporting and information as needed to lawyers.
  • Assist with sponsorship and collateral requests.
  • Assist with legal directory updates.
  • Assist with student recruiting process (including student tours and events).
  • Manage all communications with universities and potential candidates throughout the year.
  • Monitor communications with the Law Society (LSBC) regarding student articling program.
  • Provide administrative support during the student review process.
  • Assist Human Resources with special events as required.
  • Other clerical and secretarial duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years of administrative assistant experience, with a minimum of two years in a marketing environment. Preference will be given to those with a professional services background.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing or Business Administration preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills; the ability to function well under pressure; handle a high volume, fast pace and multiple assignments without sacrificing quality or attention to detail.
  • Meticulously detail oriented - excellent spelling, grammar and proof-reading skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate in a professional, mature and courteous manner.
  • Upbeat and positive outlook, professional deportment, and presence.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and graphic design software (Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime.

Compensation + Benefits

The typical salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal and market equity.
