General Accountability

Reporting to the Manager, Legal Support Services, the Tax Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting a Partner with all aspects of their busy practice including managing client and file information, establishing and maintaining organizational systems to manage paper-flow; client contact; drafting and filing documents; billing; and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Daily correspondence, document preparation.
  • File preparation and management.
  • Preparation of CRA authorizations.
  • Time entry, billings, and client collections.
  • Maintain BF system.
  • Communicate with the tax court registry.
  • Preparation of CRA and tax court forms.
  • Filing documents with the CRA and tax court.
  • Direct client contact.
  • Other general and administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to effectively manage a high volume of work, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Meticulously detail oriented - excellent spelling, grammar, and proof-reading skills.
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Ability to take initiative and think ahead.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High energy team player, positive and willing attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to comfortably adapt to changing environments.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime.
  • Keyboarding of at least 60 w.p.m.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program.

Compensation + Benefits

The typical salary range for this position is $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal and market equity.
