Kohler Family Law is seeking a motivated and capable lawyer to join our firm and practice in the area of estate law.
We are a boutique family law firm located in beautiful Langley, at the heart of the Willoughby Corridor in the First West Credit Union Building, offering high level representation and litigation expertise.
We have recently expanded our practice to include estate litigation, and this is an opportunity for you to become a core member of our estate practice, as well as expand your own skillset into family law litigation.
The ideal candidate will be confident working independently while also collaborating with other members of the firm. We are a real team at KFL, not simply a team in principle.
We are looking for an individual with a minimum of two years of experience in estate law and who is well versed in matters relating to estate planning, estate administration, and estate litigation. This is an opportunity for a lawyer with strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and excellent client service skills to contribute to a respected and growing practice.
Most importantly, the candidate has enough court experience to know that litigation is for them.

About the Role
The lawyer will be responsible for managing estate law matters, including advising clients, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in.Â
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience practicing estate law;
- Strong knowledge of British Columbia estate law, including wills, estate planning, probate, estate administration, and related disputes;
- Ability to provide clear, practical, and client-focused legal advice;
- Strong drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills;
- Excellent file management and organizational skills;
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia, or eligible for membership; and
- A professional, collegial, and client-centered approach to practice.
Responsibilities May Include
- Advising clients on estate planning and administration matters;
- Drafting wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, and related estate planning documents;
- Assisting clients with probate and estate administration applications;
- Advising executors, beneficiaries, and other interested parties;
- Handling estate disputes and related litigation matters, where applicable;
- Managing client files from intake to resolution; and
- Working collaboratively with the firm’s lawyers and support staff.
