As a Paralegal Team Lead, you will provide leadership to the Paralegal Team while remaining actively involved in corporate paralegal work. You will oversee workflow, support and mentor team members, and drive consistency and efficiency across the team. This role also involves working closely with lawyers in our Business Law and Transactions Group on a wide range of corporate matters.
While the firm is generally supportive of hybrid remote work, the role will require a certain amount of in-office attendance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Paralegal Diploma/Certificate preferred, but not required. A minimum of 2 years leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Corporate Services Paralegal or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience (salary will be based on level of training, education, and experience)
- Thorough understanding of the BC Business Corporations Act, BC Societies Act, BC Partnership Act, Canada Business Corporations Act, Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and other relevant legislation, legal terminology, forms, and documents related to corporations, partnerships, not-for-profits, etc.
- Knowledge of legal procedures and practices involved in drafting, processing, and filing a variety of legal documents
- High technology proficiency, including advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, ALF, DocuSign, NetDocs, PCLaw, BC Registry online applications, Corporations Canada online filings, and other relevant programs
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is CAD $120,000 - $145,000 at the time of this posting, with adjustments based on experience. Within this range, individual pay is determined by market rates, job-related skills, relevant experience, and education and/or training.
Please note that the range reflects base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program, 100% employer-paid benefits, and various other perks offered by the firm.
GENERAL DUTIES
This role involves preparing corporate legal documents for various entities, including BC corporations, societies, partnerships, and federal and not-for-profit corporations. The position has a reduced billable target to support the group’s leadership function. Responsibilities may include:
Paralegal Team Lead:
- Manage Paralegal Team (PL Team) vacation and leave requests as well as remote work schedule to ensure sufficient in-office support is available at all times;
- Coordinate the workflow for the team through the shared Corporate Work inbox by delegating work to the team based on capacity and experience;
- Point of contact for paralegal and lawyer questions and support through coaching and mentorship to ensure quality and consistency of work product;
- Streamline routine work by developing workflow improvements for repetitive or common tasks;
- Chair regular Team meetings to identify areas of concerns, areas for improvement, and to ensure cohesiveness among the team;
- Assist in onboarding new paralegal team members;
- Conduct annual performance reviews for the team in accordance with the process established by the Firm;
- Work with the Manager of People + Culture to identify staffing needs and assist in recruitment for the PL Team;
- Manage performance issues as they arise with the guidance of the Manager of People + Culture.
Corporate Paralegal Work:
- Incorporations/organizations, amalgamations, continuations, and registrations;
- Reorganizations, including tax-driven transactions, alterations of capital, and name changes;
- Private mergers and acquisitions;
- Dissolutions, wind-ups, and restorations;
- Declarations of dividends/bonuses;
- Share transactions such as share issuances, transfers, redemptions, repurchases, and transmissions;
- Performing due diligence reviews of corporate records and preparing rectification documentation;
- Various other corporate transactions, such as director and officer changes, changes of registered/records offices, and attending to ad hoc client requests;
- Establishing, maintaining, and updating files, databases, corporate records, and other records and documents
