Scion Law LLP is a growing boutique firm located in downtown Vancouver, specializing in tax, trust, and estate planning and administration, as well as related litigation and family law. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in a legal administrative role, supporting a litigation practice
- Proficient in:
- Administrative software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
- Frequently used third-party websites / services, such as BC Online, LTSA, and Divorcemate
- B.C.’s Supreme Court Rules (knowledge of the Civil Rules is a must, knowledge of the Family Rules is an asset)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively
- Systems-oriented with superb organizational skills
- Service-minded, with an ability to professionally manage client relationships in emotionally-charged situations
- Familiarity with time-keeping is an asset
Responsibilities:
- Handle client and counsel inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits
- Open and close client files and maintain up-to-date filing and bring forward systems
- Lawyer scheduling and management of lawyer calendars
- Prepare and manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and couriers
- Conduct conflict searches
- Prepare and manage client billing, including invoicing and accounts receivable
- Record expenses, deposits and disbursements
- Draft simple court documents
- Prepare documents for filing with court registries, oversee filing and service of documents
