Heinrichs Richards LLP is a vibrant and growing family law firm with offices in Downtown Vancouver and Kelowna. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team and provide support for our accounting department. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will be organized, dependable, and adaptable, with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to accuracy and the timely completion of work.

This is a part-time position with a minimum requirement of one day per week in the office. Some flexibility may be required to accommodate the firm’s operational needs. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to work with a positive, professional, and collaborative group of people.  

Please note that direct CPA mentorship or support is not available for this position. 

 

Standard Responsibilities:  

  • Prepare deposits and assist with bank-related paperwork; 
  • Process accounts payable invoices and prepare payments; 
  • Assist with accounts receivable, including recording payments in accordance with LSBC guidelines; 
  • Process payments and ensure accurate and timely recording within the firm’s accounting software; 
  • Maintain supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Law Society of BC trust accounting requirements; 
  • Assist with client billing and invoice distribution; 
  • Scan, file, and organize financial and accounting documents in both physical and electronic formats; 
  • Reconcile credit card transactions and assist with bank reconciliations; 
  • Maintain accurate vendor, client and accounting records; 
  • Assist with staff reimbursements and client expense requests and disbursements; 
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes by assisting with preparing and organizing financial statements;  
  • Complete miscellaneous administrative and accounting tasks as assigned; 
  • Organize closed matter files and related accounting documentation; 
  • Tracking and reporting TAF remittance; 
  • Other accounting functions as needed. 

 

What You Bring 

  • 1-2 years previous bookkeeping or accounting experience, in a professional services or legal environment is preferred.  
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and basic accounting principles.  
  • Familiarity with accounting software (Clio, PCLaw, LEAP, QuickBooks, or similar) is considered an asset.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.  
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  
  • Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues and resolve them effectively.  
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and client information with discretion.  
  • Strong communication and time-management skills.  
  • Ability to work independently  
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain an organized workflow.
