We are seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant with at least 2 years of experience in corporate, commercial and real estate law to join a premier legal team recognized for handling complex, high-value transactions and challenging legal matters. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, work closely with exceptional practitioners, and have the opportunity to make a significant impact on sophisticated files from inception to completion.

About the role:

Duties include:

  • Performing corporate searches, LTO searches, and due diligence searches
  • Obtaining pertinent information, drafting memoranda, and updating records as required
  • Drafting and sending correspondence to clients, purchasers, solicitors, and financial institutions
  • Drafting and conducting due diligence reports for clients, monitoring, and reporting on due diligence for transactions
  • Assisting in corporate, commercial and real estate matters and transactions, including assisting with drafting agreements, ancillary documentation (ie. share purchases, asset purchases and commercial transactions and Land Title transactions)
  • Managing intake of documents and file-related materials
  • Administrative tasks, including scheduling client meetings, client file management (file opening, organizing, and closing), and maintaining electronic calendars, bring-forward and limitation systems
  • Meeting with clients for client intake, review of agreements and document packages, and witnessing signatures to the same 
  • Frequent communication with clients and solicitors in charge of transactions
  • Other administrative tasks as needed

About you:

  • A Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience as an LAA
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in corporate commercial, real estate, and/or lending
  • Working knowledge of BC Online and myLTSA
  • Knowledge of Real Estate Practice Guidelines, Land Title Act, and other procedures, statutes, rules, and regulations applicable to real property law
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Teams and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, professionalism, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
