We bank with TD and I recently had a conversation about stale dated cheques with one of commercial bankers. She advised that stale dated cheques aren’t a thing anymore, so there is no need to re-issue old cheques. She also advised that we should be putting a stop payment on all cheques that are re-issued otherwise they will be clear the bank. Sounds like this is a new standard for all banks.

The positive news is that we don’t re-issue old cheques anymore, so that will save time and money.
