Hira Rowan LLP is a boutique downtown law firm involved in the practice of high-profile matters including commercial/civil litigation, regulatory litigation, criminal matters and public inquiries. We are currently recruiting for a full time or 3-4 days a week Bookkeeper with more than 5 years of bookkeeping experience. This is an in office position downtown.
General Accountability
Reporting directly to the firm’s partners, the Bookkeeper has the responsibility for the firm’s day-to-day bookkeeping needs as well as working so some Office Managerial and human resources matters.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly billings
- Accounts Payable, Receivables
- Payroll and Benefits
- Trust Accounting and filings
- Prepare monthly Bank Reconciliations and monitor the bank accounts
- Prepare and file GST, PST, TAF and Worksafe
- Prepare Year ends for accountants.
- Prepare, post and deliver bank deposits, manage petty cash and lawyer expenses
- General Office Administration, including liaising with third party service providers
- Organize, track, and manage various expenses including office supplies and equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Professional daily interaction with clients, lawyers and legal assistants
Qualifications
- Completion of college program in accounting or bookkeeping and/or courses in accounting/bookkeeping
- At least 5 years’ experience with A/P, A/R, bank and G/L reconciliations
- Payroll experience, including Ceridian
- Experience with The Law Society of BC (specifically handling trust and trust reporting)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficient with PC Law, Sage Accounting
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure, comfortable with evolving priorities and multi-tasking to meet deadlines
