Lawson Lundell LLP is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our Vancouver office. Reporting to the Business Development and Marketing Manager, this role plays a key part in shaping the firm’s public profile, brand voice, and external and internal communications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the firm’s communications and social media strategy, managing firm-wide PR and media initiatives, and delivering clear, compelling content that supports the firm’s marketing, business development, and client engagement goals.

Essential Job Functions:

Communications and Content Development

  • Support, draft, edit, and manage a wide range of external-facing content, including press releases, firm news items, client win announcements, and advertising copy for the firm’s website and external channels, as well as drafting and reviewing thought leadership and insight pieces in response to legal, business, and market developments.
  • Support and draft internal communications, including firm announcements, internal updates, and leadership communications.
  • Maintain editorial standards to ensure consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all firm communications.
  • Support the execution of the firm’s go-to-market and social media strategy across platforms.
  • Create, manage, and post content, including images, videos, and reels, for the firm’s social media handles.

Public Relations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with legal publications and local media outlets to identify opportunities to pitch articles and grow earned media coverage.
  • Support proactive media outreach and pitch development.
  • Provide strategic communications support during sensitive or high-profile situations.
  • Assist with drafting timely responses, statements, and messaging during reputational or public relations crises.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with communications and promotional support for firm-hosted and sponsored events.
  • Keeping the firm’s intranet SharePoint up to date.
  • Contribute to creative campaign concepts for firm initiatives, sponsorships, and marketing projects.
  • Support other firm-wide marketing and communications projects as assigned.

Specific Requirements:

  • 3–6 years of experience in marketing communications, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with proven experience producing professional, client-facing communications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva and other design or digital marketing tools a bonus but not a requirement.

Compensation and Benefits:

The typical salary range is $60,000 - $90,000 annually. Candidates meeting the requirements of the role can expect to be placed in the $60,000 - $75,000 range. Candidates with experience that significantly exceeds the requirements may be considered for higher placement within the range, up to $90,000. The base pay offered is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal and market equity.
