We currently have an Estate Administration Paralegal opportunity available working in our Wills & Estates department.

About the role:

  • Prepare probate and administration application materials
  • Supervise processes and procedures relating to estate administration
  • Communicate with financial institutions and others to gather information about estate assets
  • Act as primary liaison with the probate registry, Public Guardian and Trustee’s office and other government agencies
  • Conduct and report on title, wills notice and other searches
  • Assist in the ongoing development of precedent system in respect of estate administration matters and maintain system
  • Assist executors and administrators in the administration of estates, including the transmission and transfer of estate assets and the preparation of accounts
  • Arrange publication of notices to creditors and related tasks
  • Participate in client interviews, engage in direct phone, and e-mail communications with clients and others and attend to execution of documents by clients
  • Other administrative support to the department as needed

About you:

  • You have 3 years of paralegal experience in Estate Administration
  • You have a certificate/diploma from an accredited Paralegal program
  • You have working knowledge of relevant legislation, Supreme Court Rules, and probate registry practice and procedures
  • You have experience in dealing directly with the probate registry and the Public Guardian and Trustee’s office
  • You have strong document production skills, including working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments while focusing on attention detail
  • You are a team player who can take the initiative and work independently when needed
