Description

About C & Co Family Law

We are a boutique, trauma-informed family law practice dedicated to being a grounding and calming force for our clients during life’s toughest transitions. Our practice includes litigation, Collaborative Family Law, mediation, and settlement-oriented solutions.

We believe that to serve our clients with both clarity and compassion, we must first take care of ourselves. We are firmly committed to a Balanced Life & Work Policy, ensuring our team comes to work with clear minds and healthy bodies. We value emotional intelligence as highly as legal acumen.

About the Role

We are seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant (0–3 Years) who shares our values of empathy, responsibility, and proactivity. You will be working closely with our paralegal and the organizational backbone of our team, helping us guide families toward swift, peaceful resolutions.

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • File Management: Opening, organizing, and closing files with a keen eye for detail.
  • Drafting & Preparation: preparing Supreme Court and Provincial Court forms (Family Law Act), and drafting correspondence to clients and opposing counsel.
  • Client Connection: acting as the first point of contact for clients who are often in distress—providing a compassionate, non-judgmental ear while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Financial Administration: assisting with monthly billing, retainer agreements, and maintaining client trust accounts.
  • Calendar Management: scheduling mediations, client meetings, and court dates, ensuring our "settlement-oriented" timeline stays on track.
  • Technical Filing: conducting BC Online searches, filing documents via Court Services Online (CSO), and managing our internal practice management software.
  • Office Administration: arranging couriers, booking boardrooms, organizing firm events, and any other duties necessary to support the team.

About You

You are organized, detail oriented, tech-savvy, a great communicator, and emotionally mature. You understand that family law requires a delicate touch and proactive support.

  • Education: LAA Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of experience in family law (practicum experience counts).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe. Familiarity with Clio and DivorceMate is a strong asset.
  • Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence. You can remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive client stories with grace and confidentiality.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is a significant asset (though not required), as we serve a diverse community.

What We Offer

We invest in our team’s well-being because we know that a supported and well-balanced team is essential to providing excellent client service.

  • Mentorship: We are a tight-knit group who are eager to teach and mentor.
  • Health & Wellness: a health spending account and a culture that genuinely respects your evenings and weekends.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Location: A beautiful office in the heart of downtown Vancouver, close to transit and amenities.

How to Apply

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter telling us how you show up in a team to [email protected].

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
