What you can expect:

We currently have an opening in our Vancouver office for a Family LAA. This role requires an individual who is organized, effective at multi-tasking and detail oriented, with strong communication and people skills. Depending on experience and knowledge, the core responsibilities of the role will be, but not limited to:

  • Opening and closing files
  • Drafting correspondences
  • Acting as a liaison between client, lawyer and opposing counsel
  • Regularly liaising with the handling lawyer as to file status, deadlines, and preparation for trial
  • Electronic filing of documents
  • Organizing files, binders, client documents and other file related materials
  • Maintaining a bring forward system
  • Organizing the calendar of the assigned lawyer(s), booking appointments, trials and discoveries
  • Managing monthly billing
  • Sending invoices and following up on AR
  • Other administrative tasks as required

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an LAA in a busy family practice
  • A Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Although not required, Mandarin-speaking language skills would be deemed a major asset
  • Understanding of the legal process and the Rules of Court
  • Familiarity with DivorceMate and Court Services Online
  • Proficient with MS Word and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in independently and in a team environment

Compensation

The typical salary range for this position is $63,000 - $77,000. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related skills/knowledge, experience, and internal and market equity.
