Description

Ratcliff LLP is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee all aspects of human resources within the firm, working in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer and reporting to the Managing Partner. The ideal candidate will bring experience from a law firm environment, a proven ability to lead high-performing teams, and a passion for people and workplace culture. This role is well-suited to someone who values collaboration and is eager to contribute to a progressive and inclusive firm.  

This is a full-time, in-office position at our North Vancouver office.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage the full staff recruitment and selection process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding
  • Assist in articled student and lawyer recruitment and onboarding
  • Coordinate practicum student placements

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Develop and implement workplace policies and procedures
  • Administer payroll and benefits programs
  • Maintain accurate HR records (including attendance, performance, and compensation) and generate reports for management
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies
  • Coordinate and schedule administrative support, taking into account lawyer needs and staff availability

Employee Relations & Development

  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, ensuring employees are supported and engaged
  • Address employee complaints, conflicts, and concerns
  • Coach staff and carry out performance and compensation reviews
  • Develop and coordinate staff and associate development programs
  • Oversee and coordinate staff events

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (minimum requirement)

  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a human resources manager or in a similar leadership role, preferably within a law firm or professional services firm
  • Strong understanding of the legal profession and the unique challenges faced by law firms
  • In-depth knowledge of human resources management, best practices and relevant employment legislation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
