We are currently seeking an Information Technology Manager to join our downtown office.
Reporting to the Management Committee, this role requires proven expertise in IT Management, including infrastructure systems, security technologies, IT operations and related concepts. Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the entire IT infrastructure, managing projects, and aligning technology strategies with business objectives.
- Staying updated with technology advancements and recommend, implement, and maintain appropriate software and systems to support the firm’s operations.
- Staying abreast of legal regulations and requirements relevant to the firm’s operations.
- Implementing and monitoring compliance measures to mitigate risks.
- Managing the IT team by overseeing, recruiting, and training IT staff.
- Managing annual/project IT budgets and maintaining cost-effectiveness.
- Monitoring daily performance of IT systems, including computers, programs, and networks.
- Planning, implementing and reviewing all changes to IT technologies.
- Managing the firm’s network infrastructure such as SAN, firewalls, networking switches, and routers.
- Managing the firm’s document management system and file security and transfers.
- Triaging issues, acting as an escalation point and troubleshooting problems directly, while increasing overall efficiency of the IT team.
- Developing and managing data backup systems and disaster recovery contingencies.
- Planning, organizing, controlling, and evaluating IT and electronic data operations.
- Managing vendor relationships, such as IT service providers, office suppliers, and maintenance contractors, to ensure timely delivery of services and resolve any issues.
- Designing, developing, implementing, and coordinating systems, policies, and procedures.
- Ensuring security of data, network access, and backup systems.
- Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.
- Providing assistance and recommendations to the Management Committee on emerging infrastructure technologies and opportunities to improve performance/capacity of infrastructure and operations.
- Managing risk profiles pertaining to infrastructure technologies and operations, providing recommendations to mitigate risks, ensuring timely delivery of work programs, and conducting quality assurance/reviews of work program deliverables of the infrastructure team and vendors.
- Providing expert advice and engaging in the resolution of complex infrastructure and operational issues in collaboration with managers, practice groups, and vendors.
- Adhering to IT best practices and ITIL methodologies, including incident management, problem management, release management, change management, etc...
The Ideal Candidate has…
- A broad range of infrastructure and operation knowledge (i.e. server operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, user account management, security & access controls, messaging, file and print operations, database administration, storage operation, backup and recovery, helpdesk operations)
- A strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra, Active Directory and Office 365 administration
- A strong knowledge an understanding of data centre infrastructure such as Dell EMC, VMware and iSCSI networking.
- A solid understanding and experience with networking technologies such as SonicWall firewalls, VPN, ZTNA, and Sophos MDR,
- A solid understanding of backup solutions and business continuity with Veeam Cloud Connect.
- Experience leading IT solutions and managing IT teams effectively.
- Highly developed problem solving, conflict management, and negotiation skills, including the ability to successfully resolve performance and disciplinary issue.
- An ability to visualize and deliver creative solutions for non-IT professionals.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- An ability to work well under pressure and adjust to changing needs of the firm.
- An ability to prioritize and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the firm in a fast-paced environment and on a national platform while maintaining composure.
- An ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
- University degree or equivalent in Information Technology.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- Ten years of related IT experience, five years of which in a senior or management role, ideally in a law firm.
- Experience and ability in exercising a lead role in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of infrastructure technology initiatives.
- Experience with VOIP systems is an asset.
- Experience with iManage is an asset.
- Experience with Elite is an asset.
Job Details
- Job type: Permanent, full-time, Monday – Friday, in person.
- Salary: $110,000 – $120,000
