Lawson Lundell LLP is seeking a Junior Paralegal to join our Asia Pacific Group in our Vancouver office. This is a contract role, with the possibility of becoming permanent following the initial 18-month contract term. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and hardworking team player who would like to work within our growing Asia Pacific Group. The regular working hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Lawson Lundell’s Asia Pacific Group supports clients engaging in business between Canada and the dynamic Asia Pacific region. Drawing on deep experience with inbound investment to Canada and outbound Canadian business ventures across Asia Pacific, the group offers guidance on cross-border transactions, cultural considerations, and multilingual communication. With strong knowledge of sectors including real estate, mining, forestry, technology, M&A/private equity, venture capital, and trust and estates, the Group helps clients navigate opportunities in this strategically vital region.

Standard Responsibilities

  • Review residential and commercial contracts of purchase and sale, easements, rights of way, subdivisions and strata plan filings
  • Prepare documents with respect to acquisitions and sales of various types of businesses, residential and commercial properties, financing and development of land
  • Obtain and review due diligence searches and completing summaries
  • Prepare closing agendas
  • Prepare all documents necessary, from start to completion on all commercial transactions
  • Attend to registration of documents and security in land title offices and other government registries
  • Liaise with all internal and external parties involved with transactions, including preparation of correspondence
  • Review and respond to correspondence

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification from an accredited institution
  • Previous experience is considered an asset
  • Aptitude in Microsoft Office
  • Solid understanding of BC land title registration requirements
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and solve problems in a fast paced environment
  • Has the ability to work both independently and as part of a collegial team
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Displays extraordinary customer service in a professional, mature and courteous manner
  • Highly dependable and adaptable with great work ethic
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spoken English and composition, spelling, grammar and editing skills
  • Ability to speak Mandarin is an asset

The hiring range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 annually; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits, including:
