Rosborough & Company has been serving the Fraser Valley since 1961. Our lawyers provide an array of solicitor-oriented services, with a focus on Real Estate Development and Transactions, Corporate and Commercial Transactions, and Wills and Estate Administration.
ROLE
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and detail-oriented law firm accountant or administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will join and be trained in our accounting department to fulfill both accounting and administration tasks alongside our retiring office administrator and remaining accounting staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Being primary contact for lawyers, staff, and service providers regarding firm operations.
• Managing office supplies, software, equipment, facilities, and insurance including liaising with the firm’s vendors, service providers, and external professionals.
• Administering payroll, benefits, vacation, and job postings and maintaining employee records.
• Overseeing and monitoring the firms general and trust accounts, including attending to bank reconciliations, reporting requirements, audits, and ensuring ongoing compliance with trust accounting rules and fraud prevention protocols.
• Attending to the firm’s accounts receivables and payables, tax filings and remittances, and the lawyers’ dues and fees.
• Preparing and submitting reports and financial information to the firm’s lawyers, external accountants, Law Society, and CDIC.
• Maintaining the firm’s risk management systems and coordinating Law Society audits.
• Performing related duties as needed from time to time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A minimum of 2 years work experience at a law firm in an administrative or managerial role.
• Experience or training in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Proficient with Unity Accounting, ESILaw, Sage, or similar and Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
• Familiar with the Law Society trust accounting rules and reporting requirements.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Location: 201-33832 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford
Hours: Full-time, in office, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30
Compensation: $34.00 to $44.50 per hour plus extended health and dental benefits (50% firm paid)
