We are currently seeking a Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant with a minimum of two years of litigation experience to join our dynamic team. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage client files including diarizing hearing and trial dates, maintaining organizational and BF systems (electronic and paper);
  • Draft standard letters, affidavits and pleadings from templates and precedents;
  • Organize and assemble or supervise assembly of chambers/petition records, books of authorities, appeal records and appeal books;
  • Schedule discoveries, court dates, mediations and arbitrations;
  • File documents with the registries at various levels of court;
  • Prepare monthly bills and general accounting requests;
  • Email and document management using iManage/Filesite DM;
  • Other general and administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2+ years experience working as a litigation legal assistant.
  • A client-focused approach with a strong commitment to delivering professional services to clients.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage high volumes of work efficiently.
  • Exceptional administration and organization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and writing.
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate a proactive mindset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the rules, procedures, forms, and filing requirements for the BC Supreme Court and BC Court of Appeal, with a willingness to learn about filing requirements for the Supreme Court of Canada and Federal Court.
  • High level of proficiency with current technology and software, combined with a strong motivation to adopt and leverage new technologies to enhance efficiency and workflows.
  • Familiarity various filing and search engines, including BC Online and LTSA.
  • Knowledge of PC Law, Adaugeo, FileSite, IPro, and CaseMap is an asset; however, training will be provided if needed
