Owen Bird Law Corporation is a downtown, full-service, mid-sized law firm committed to providing exceptional service and outstanding results for our clients.
We are currently looking for an intermediate legal administrative assistant for our float pool. This role will provide coverage for legal support staff who are out of the office and will also assist the lawyer-assistant teams with overflow tasks. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a variety of lawyers across various practice areas.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
• Providing coverage and overflow assistance to lawyer-assistant teams with a focus on the litigation department
• Maintaining efficient file management and bring forward system for limitation and follow-up dates
• Scheduling trials, applications, examinations for discovery, and other matters
• Handling incoming and outgoing (e)mail; answering client telephone calls and communicating with opposing counsel
• Preparation of bills
• Opening and closing files
• Preparing and drafting various correspondence and legal documents from dictation and precedent documents
• Preparing lists of documents
• Other administrative tasks as required
Here is what you bring to the team:
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant work experience as a legal administrative assistant in a general litigation law practice
• Graduation from a legal administrative assistant program
• Client-centered approach with a commitment to providing outstanding service
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications and pdf software
• Proficient with BC Online, and other online platforms
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced work environment
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 and is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including an RRSP Matching Program.
