Owen Bird Law Corporation is a downtown, full-service, mid-sized law firm committed to providing exceptional service and outstanding results for our clients.

We are currently seeking an intermediate to senior Legal Administrative Assistant to join our litigation department. This role supports two lawyers specializing in family law and general commercial litigation. It’s an excellent opportunity for a collaborative team player who is passionate about family law and fluent in Mandarin.

 

In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain organized file management systems, including bring-forward systems for limitation and follow-up dates.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents and correspondence using precedents.
  • Schedule trials, applications, examinations for discovery, and other litigation-related proceedings.
  • Communicate and coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage lists of documents for client matters.
  • Assist with written and verbal communication for Mandarin-speaking clients.
  • Handle billing processes, including preparation of invoices, month-end accounting, and payment follow-up.

 

Here is what you bring to the team:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant in family law or general commercial litigation law practice.
  • Completion of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications and pdf editing software.
  • Experience using BC Online, LTSA, and other relevant legal platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Mandarin

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 and is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including an RRSP Matching Program.
