About You

We are looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our litigation department. This is a full-time permanent position that will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience and grow within a collaborative team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Managing key dates including bring forward system and updating calendars for assigned lawyers, including their meetings, appointments, due dates and client-related activities
  • Preparing documents including (drafting, formatting, editing, proofing, track changes) correspondence, memos, agreements, legislation, codes, bylaws, and reports
  • Dictation
  • Coordinating timelines and work planning for filings, hearings and trials as required
  • Preparing specialized court documents in all levels of court and different jurisdictions.
  • Searches and registrations on online registries
  • Arranging dates for trials and judicial review hearings
  • Assisting with the review and assembling of documentary evidence.
  • Collecting, organizing, tracking and managing documents and consultation records
  • Facilitating and attending meetings (client, inter-governmental meetings)
  • Supporting with client management and relations as required
  • Opening and closing of files
  • Time entry and billing
  • Submitting expense reimbursements for associated lawyer(s)
  • Scheduling and booking travel for lawyers and all related documentation and communication with relevant parties
  • Provide support to other team members
  • Office administration duties as required

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant
  • A Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
