We are seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant in our Vancouver office to support our Litigation Department.  This role involves working on a broad range of litigation matters, including civil, commercial and construction matters.

This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail oriented and proactive LAA, experienced in managing complex litigation files in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing litigation files from intake through to settlement or trial
  • Drafting pleadings, list of documents applications, affidavits, and correspondence
  • Preparing mediation briefs and trial materials, examination for discovery and arbitrations
  • Filing and serving court documents in the BC Supreme Court
  • Tracking limitation periods and critical litigation deadlines
  • Supporting occupiers’ liability claims under the Occupiers Liability Act
  • Assisting with construction litigation matters, including builder’s lien filings under the Builders Lien Act
  • Communicating with clients in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Time entry, billing support, and general litigation administrative assistance
  • Providing additional support to members of the Litigation Department as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
  • 4+ years of litigation LAA experience (BC experience required)
  • Solid understanding of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules
  • Exposure to construction litigation is a bonus
  • Exceptional organizational and deadline management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active files independently
  • Strong client service orientation and emotional intelligence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, FileSite/iManage DMS, and Elite 3E accounting software (preferred)
