Description
Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented legal assistant to work with the IP Litigation group in our Vancouver office. This position will appeal to candidates who enjoy a fun, challenging position in an office with a great culture. The primary responsibilities of the position are outlined below:
The Role
- Prepare, compile, serve and file court documents in accordance with the BC Supreme Court and Federal Court rules and practice directions;
- Edit, format and revise pleadings, agreement documents, letters, memos, reports, forms and other documents using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Initiate documentation and correspondence on files;
- Maintain files, including assisting with opening and closing client/matter files;
- Update client file lists;
- Maintain an efficient file management and bring forward system;
- Liaise with client billing specialists for monthly production of accounts;
- Attend at the Court Registries to file legal documentation;
- Scan, photocopy and compile court documents and briefs;
- Prepare cheque requisitions and courier packages for delivery;
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail;
- Perform administrative and related duties as assigned and assist others in the department as required;
- Perform a variety of routine tasks as well as special projects as required.Â
Skills and Abilities
- 4+ years of experience in a legal assistant position, preferably with litigation experience;
- Graduate of legal administrative assistant program or relevant experience;
- Knowledge of Supreme Court of British Columbia rules and procedures;
- Advanced PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Chrome River, SAP, MS Teams, iManage knowledge would be an asset);
- Work with minimal direction or instructions;
- Delegate work appropriately to other service departments and/or administrative clerks;
- Manage, organize and prioritize work independently;
- Maintain excellent working relationships with all staff;
- Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Vancouver Salary: $50,599 - $82,225. Salary will be discussed and negotiated during interview and will be based on experience.
