Description

A highly regarded national boutique law firm specializing in Labour & Employment law is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support senior partners in our Vancouver office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced practice.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in labour and employment law, civil litigation, or commercial litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to multiple lawyers in a management-side labour and employment practice, including arbitrations, matters before the BC Labour Relations Board, Human Rights Tribunal proceedings, and litigation files
  • Prepare, draft, and transcribe correspondence and legal documents
  • Manage pleadings, court documents, and filing deadlines, with knowledge of BC court procedures
  • Coordinate meetings, schedule appointments, and maintain lawyers’ calendars
  • Organize and maintain client files (electronic and physical)
  • Handle client communications and general administrative duties
  • Enter daily time entries and assist with preparation of monthly client accounts and disbursements
  • Monitor deadlines, ensure appropriate follow-ups, and help maintain high standards of client service
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in litigation and/or labour and employment law
  • Experience with British Columbia Labour Relations Board and Human Rights Tribunal matters is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of BC court processes and litigation procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational, time and practice management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, resourceful approach
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience preparing and managing client accounts
  • Familiarity with Acumin and document management systems (DMS) is an asset
