A Day In The Life
The Legal Assistant role contributes to efficient day-to-day operations by providing clerical and administrative support to the Litigation & Dispute Resolution lawyers in Fasken’s Surrey office. This is done through exceptional practice management and client service, the ability to successfully handle competing priorities, and a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administrative tasks, such as email and calendar management, meeting coordination, processing incoming and outgoing mail, preparing expense reports, handling invoices, and disbursements
- Open, maintain, and close files in accordance with firm procedures
- Maintain an organized file management and bring forward system
- Prepare, format, and proofread a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, lists of documents, and agreements
- Schedule trials, discoveries, and hearings, and prepare required documentation
- Ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and updated regularly
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and external stakeholders
- Other duties, as assigned
Required Skills and Experience
- Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
- 3+ years of commercial litigation experience, preferably in a large firm
- Strong understanding of Supreme Court litigation procedure and the Rules of Court
- Familiarity with Foreclosures is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (including Teams and SharePoint) and legal software such as iManage, Adobe, Docusign, and Chrome River
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability and minimal supervision

Compensation
The typical salary range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
