PLLR Lawyers is a vibrant, mid-sized, full-service Richmond law firm with a wonderful, growing team. We seek a Senior Manager of Accounting to take ownership of the accounting function to support the smooth operation of the firm. The ideal candidate for this role is a team-oriented individual who is eager to lead the department, work autonomously, and work collaboratively with management to solve problems.

Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee the daily operations of the accounting functions and team, including:

  • Processing and recording Trust, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Collections transactions
  • Process Staff Payroll
  • Generating and processing bills and invoices
  • Reconciling bank statements and accounts  
  • Managing and maintaining financial records
  • Monitoring cash flow and updating management team
  • Coordinating tax preparation and financial audits
  • Generating and analyzing financial reports
  • Preparing payment of Law Society reports and premiums
  • Supervising and training accounting clerks
  • Advising management team on accounting best practices
  • Ensuring compliance with financial reporting obligations and Law Society rules

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a general accounting role
  • 5+ year of experience working within a Canadian law firm
  • Proven ability to lead accounting function independently
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field

Desired qualifications:

  • Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) is a definitive asset
  • Experience working with ESILAW 360
  • Superb communication skills with proven ability to interact tactfully and be personable
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines

Compensation: The starting range for this role is $120,000-150,0000/year. Starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. PLLR’s employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
