Mortgage Clerk
WHC is looking for a junior real estate conveyancer to cover a maternity leave position. Our growing real estate practice handles a variety of residential, commercial and loan transactions.
The main responsibilities of this role include managing residential mortgage refinancing transactions from start to finish. The ideal candidate enjoys the challenge of a busy practice and meeting tight deadlines.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
Contract Period: February 2025 - May 2026 (possibility of extension)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receipting and reviewing instructions from lender
- Opening and closing files
- Obtaining applicable searches
- Generating documents through E-Conveyance
- Receipting and reviewing executed security documents
- Attending to registrations in the Land Title Office
- Receipting and disbursing trust funds
- Final reporting and final due diligence
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in the related area
- A team player who can work independently and take initiative
- Ability to work well with both lawyers and staff in a team oriented environment
- Ability to remain organized when managing multiple files while paying attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with clients and other stakeholders in a professional manner
- Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of work under strict deadlines
- Technological proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, experience with e-filing and ability to learn new software applications
- Experience using E-Conveyance an asset
