With a focus primarily on Commercial and Construction Litigation, namely Dispute Resolution, Contract & Procurement Development, and Contract Security, this is an excellent opportunity to work with a talented, close-knit team of lawyers and paralegals alike. With ideally 10+ years of experience, we are seeking a confident paralegal to spearhead case management, draft and file court documents, as well as provide leadership where needed. The ideal candidate offers advanced knowledge of litigation procedures, a thorough understanding of Land Title Office filings, and is well versed in matters relating to court preparation, mediation, arbitration, and e-discovery. We strive to provide staff with a collaborative, supportive environment, as well as a flexible hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities
- Drafting/reviewing/analyzing/filing pleadings, agreements, contracts and all court documents
- Assisting with case management
- Litigation preparation (gathering/organizing documents for court, mediation, arbitration, XFD, Trial, etc.)
- Maintaining a bring-forward system for key dates/limitation periods
- Draft and file land documents
- Book chambers and trial dates
- Rules research (court and land)
- Preparation and production of list of documents/affidavits of record in Everlaw
- Process incoming list of documents/affidavits of record from other counsel
- Correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, court, LTO as needed
- Perform various searches (land, court, bankruptcy, PPR, corporate)
- Maintain file checklist (pleadings and land)
- Basic administrative tasks (photocopy/scan)
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience as a Paralegal
- Advanced knowledge of the law and legal procedures
- Advanced knowledge of Land Title Office and land documents
- Superior leadership and management skills
- Some corporate experience would be an added asset
