Pulver Crawford Munroe LLP is recruiting for a Paralegal with 10+ years of experience in litigation to join our team.
Pulver Crawford Munroe LLP has a vibrant practice across the entire labour and employment spectrum in dozens of industries. Our practice is now expanding to include a higher volume of litigation work. We seek a confident paralegal who can spearhead case management as well as draft and file court documents.
The ideal candidate has advanced knowledge of litigation procedures, and has experience in court preparation, mediation, arbitration and e-discovery.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assisting with case management
- Litigation preparation (gathering/organizing documents for court, mediation, arbitration, XFD, Trial, etc.)
- Maintaining a bring-forward system for key dates/limitation periods
- Booking court dates and communicating with registries
- Conducting legal researchÂ
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, motions, and correspondence
- Preparing and filing documents with courts and government agencies as required
- Correspondence with clients, opposing counsel and the court as needed
- Some basic administrative tasks – photocopying and scanning
Key Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- 10+ years of experience as a Paralegal in a Canadian law firm, with preference given to those with labour and employment experience
- Paralegal degree/certificate from an accredited institution
- advanced knowledge of the law and legal procedures in British Columbia; experience with other Canadian jurisdictions would be considered an asset
- strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- strong ability to maintain confidentiality
- excellent organizational and time management abilities required to prioritize a high volume of tasks or competing priorities
- experience with eDiscovery considered an asset
- able to understand and follow written and oral directions
- able to establish and maintain effective working relations with others
In addition to a competitive salary range of $80,000 – $95,000 we offer a variety of benefits, including:
