Join BCLMA Knowledge Management members for a roundtable discussion on “Recovering Research Database Costs: Profit Centre or Cost of Doing Business?” We will start with a brief presentation from Lisa Andersen, Director, Legal Talent & Knowledge Management at Singleton Reynolds, with an overview of the applicable rules for disbursements, the current law on recovery of research database costs in the courts, and the internal firm obstacles to cost recovery. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion where we look forward to hearing from members of the group on the challenges that they have experienced and solutions they may have implemented. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Strategies for increasing recovery
  • Educating lawyers on the nature of research database disbursements
  • Marketing the value of research databases to clients
  • Assessing reasonable disbursement amounts

Lisa Andersen is Director, Legal Talent & Knowledge Management at Singleton Reynolds. In this capacity she manages student and associate recruitment and professional development as well as overseeing the firm’s knowledge management resources, learning, and development.
