Attached please find the PP (edited for some commentary during the meeting) from the 20 February 2020 BCLMA Finance Subsection meeting on the topic of the EHT.

With the elimination of MSP premiums, employers can choose to close their MSP accounts. While employers will no longer register employees on the MSP program, as one of our members pointed during the meeting, some extended health plans require that employees be registered for MSP. This means that employers will have to consider adopting alternative onboarding policies to ensure that new employees are registered for the MSP. Some firms might choose to maintain their MSP accounts, while others will close theirs. Either way, firms who require that their employees be registered for MSP prior to obtaining extended health coverage will have to have some means of confirming that new employees are registered for MSP.
